I hope that this newsletter finds you all well, warm and dry and looking forward to all the forthcoming festivities and have we got just a few over the summer! Rumours have it that the sun will start to shine this week and we can start to take the layers off..... Well with all things British making big headlines this year, I just couldn't resist making myself a new apron, which I will be sporting at the summer fairs - one has to look the part, doesn't one??..Do you think Mary Portas and the Queen will approve? Well lets get the bunting out and start partying on..... Meet me at the Fair You can see me at the following fairs, starting with the Jubilee Great British Market at the Ridings Shopping Centre in Wakefield on Sunday June 3rd. Come and see the "Special" guest...lets just say she wears a rather sparkly crown!! More details to follow shortly on these two: Carlton Festival in the Rhubarb Triangle 30th June 2012 Driffield Show July 18th 2012 Street Party anyone? Now if you are planning a street party for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, then you could up-stage your neighbours in one of these glamourous Limited Edition Aprons New to mrs madden makes Ceramic Hearts Aren't these just gorgeous? After being an avid collector of these really pretty ceramic hearts over the past couple of years, I now have the privilege of becoming a stockist of the Jamali Annay hearts. They are all individually hand painted and fired in the lovely Yorkshire town of Knaresborough and come with quirky sayings similar to my aprons - just what your kitchen needs! And of course, no kitchen will be complete without this year's Must Have...the Union Jack heart. Come and see the full range at the shows... Father's Day And then we must not forget that we also have Father's Day on June 17th. Now I'm sure with all the events and get-togethers there are going to be, that Dad will be barbecuing quite a bit, so why not treat him to a Man-Pinny? How cool will that be? What's been happening at mrs madden makes??? Well besides being extremely busy in the sewing room getting ready for all of the fairs, I have had time to do a girly day trip to York for afternoon tea...well it was one way of doing a bit of research on the cake front and I did bring some back for my hubby!! Honestly! But if you get chance...afternoon tea atHotel du Vin is very very nice and the choice of teas is lovely...try the Rose Petal China tea.. But the most exciting event happened over the weekend was at The Malton Food Festival.....who's this signing his new book for me - "Let's Eat"? Yes...Tom Parker Bowles...we also got to meet Matthew Fort from The Great British Menu....they were a brilliant double act in the Cookery Theatre and were also interviewed by the lovely Selina Scott....very entertaining... Will let you know how the new recipes go down... So have you been up to anything exciting that you would like to share with us? Would love to hear from you...just drop me an email.. Stockists refreshed ready for the Jubilee New Aga aprons have arrived at Country Warmth in Norton, near Malton in North Yorkshire - there's a few new sayings: "Keep Calm - your dinner is in the Aga" and we just had to.... "Aga Queen" and a selection of pretty aprons, frilly pinnies and peg pinnies at Customer of the Month And last but not least..Customer of the Month Awards.... As I didn't have one last month and it is time to celebrate with the Jubilee - this month I thought we'd have 2!!!! The first one is the lovely Fiona from Cakes by No More Tiers of York sporting her fab Jubilee inspired apron Take a peak at her website to see how fab her cakes are and what she has been up to in Telford over the weekend - some brilliant masterpieces no less: and then this is Matt...looking great in his spotty apron...who says pinnies are only for women...doesn't he look the part?! Both win vouchers to spend at mrs madden makes .. so a big thank you to them for sending their photos in and letting me share them with you. In every newsletter, we feature a customer of the month. So if you fancy taking part, please don't be shy - send in your photos. I love to see how happy you are wearing them and what you get up to and it also allows you to see how other customers are using our products. Now I do know that some mrs madden makes aprons have been flying off to distant shores this past month...so please share the sunshine!!! Don't forget, for those of you on Facebook, you can keep up-to-date daily at my mrs madden makes Facebook page Well all that's left to say now is I hope you all have a very merry Diamond Jubilee Weekend and hope to see some of you who can make it to any of the fairs in Yorkshire over the summer - keep in touch.. Take care and have fun, ©mrs madden makes 2012

This month is all about food and love or is it just love of food??!! Love is in the Air February is the month of love with Valentine's Day on the 14th and it's also Leap Year. So if you have a beau in tow - now's the time to go for it girls! And if you need a little help why not treat yourself to this lovely cushion and position it just right to catch his eye! "Cuddle up to the Cook!" It could get HOT in the kitchen!!! Must-do this month! Red and pink and the colours of love and also Rhubarb! After living in Yorkshire for many years, last February we managed to do the"Rhubarb Tour" and thoroughly enjoyed it and wondered why it had taken us so long to get around to it. For those of you who don't know, the area around Wakefield and south of Leeds is known as the Rhubarb Triangle and this wonderful vegetable now has the EU's Protected Designation of Origin Status. So if you get chance, please do come to Wakefield for the Rhubarb Festival which takes place from the 24th to the 26th February. Take the Oldroyd and Sons Tour - if you are lucky you will get Janet who is a fantastic guide and you may have even seen her on Countryfile. Also visit the fabulous food stalls and cookery demos in the city centre. There's more to rhubarb than crumble! Right, my mouth is now watering, so I'm off to make a rhubarb dessert for tonight using some of my rhubarb and vanilla liqueur from the Customer of the month Wow!!! Another first for mrs madden makes! Thank you so much to the lovely Jennie for sending these fab photos across from the other end of the earth and for taking the time to model the apron in full view of all the tourists on the waterfront in Sydney! This month's prize voucher goes to Maggie who emailed the photos in..... "My sister in law, Jennie, loved her Mrs Madden Makes apron and has sent through some photos of it from Oz. Not everyday tourists get to see a random woman standing out front of Sydney Opera House with a cooking apron on" - Maggie So far this year we have had photos from New York and now Sydney...so where will we get to see next.....Antartica??? Do send your photos in as it's so nice to see where my aprons are living and you too could win a mrs madden makes voucher. Tip of the Month Next time you have a coffee, try having white sugar instead of brown in it..that is of course if you take sugar. Are you crazy? It's not normal! I can hear you saying... well the reason being, I spent a lovely Saturday with a friend on a coffee course the other week, and the lady running it told us that the molasses in the brown sugar can make the coffee taste quite bitter but the white sweetens it properly. Let me know how you get on. Lady Aga New stock of Aga aprons has arrived this week at Country Warmth in Norton near Malton, including this lovely "Lady AGA" cupcake apron. They are also stocking the "Do my buns look big in this?" Cupcake apron ...so pop along and say hello and get warm amongst the AGAs...just what you need with all the wintery weather. So that's all for now..hope to see you at some of my fairs , and do write in and let me know your news too and I'd love to see your photos. Please forward this onto anyone you think may like to read it and if you want to have it sent direct to your inbox each month then please sign up for my newsletter by following this link now. Best wishes and take care in this cold weather, Foodie Bev ©mrs madden makes 2012

Make your own Valentine Heart Kit Give someone you love a unique heart. The kit comes complete with an 8" twiggy heart, fabric and instructions for you to make your own heart. All it needs is your creativity and a pair of scissors! The fabrics will differ in each pack but will generally be a mixture of reds and pinks unless you require another colour combination.

Dear Readers
I hope that this short newsletter finds you all well and that you had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Just where did January go to? If you are like me, you may have been having a good sort out and getting ready for the year ahead? Well I'm so glad that the days are getting just that bit longer, even though the weather is still in winter mode! I saw a complete rainbow this morning, so that lifted my spirits....wonder where the pot of gold is?? Ha ha!
Love is in the Air Well the month of love, February is upon us and I just thought I would let you know that my twiggy grapevine hearts are now available to buy on line, previously they have only been available at the shows. So if you fancy treating a loved one with something that bit different then have a look at these.......or why not treat yourself too?
Getting Personal I think it's always nice and better to know who you are talking to, emailing or buying from, so I have been very brave and posted a photo of me on my About Me page. So for all of you who have never met me in person, here I am......the unairbrushed version!!!
Parties and Events It's that time of year when I am busy booking my fairs for this year, so watch this space and I will be updating you next month of where you will be able to see me....I'm planning on venturing further afield than Yorkshire this year so it's quite exciting!
I know quite a few of you have said that you would be interested in having a mrs madden makes party at home, so anyone that would like more information or have some dates in mind, please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can save those for you.
Stocks I have been quite busy since I last talked to you all. Being snowbound before Christmas did mean that I had to stay put, but it did give me chance to look at creating new designs of aprons and re-build my stocks and soon there will be some exiting new products on-line. However in the meantime, if there is something you would like but can't find it on my web-site, please contact me as I am also making to order.
Well this is all for now. Please keep warm and well and if you can, stay out of the wind! I look forward to hearing from you.
With warm wishes for a good 2011

The smell of lavender is sooo calming!Take the stress out of your life with these pretty cotton hearts and creatures that are softly padded and have dried lavender from my garden. They are trimmed in pretty fabrics and make ideal Gifts especially for Valentine's, Weddings and even for Mum on Mother's Day. Again each one is unique. They look great hanging from doors in the bedroom and fresh in the cloakroom or just by your pillow. Why not give yourself 5 minutes and take a browse at these? If not a gift why not just treat yourself to one?
