Coffee and Crafts

What a fab concept? If you like to craft and are a lover of home-made cakes then Rivers Meet is a destination Craft Cafe for you. Situated just outside Leeds in the village of Methley, Jo, the proprietor, teaches sewing classes and also makes the cakes for the cafe. The day we visited was very icy but we were greeted by a roaring fire. We spent a lovely morning there - I was quite good, having the fat free fruit cake - browsing the shop and enjoying a couple of cups of coffee. We shall be back - either to visit one of the many craft fairs, join in a craft class or just for lunch.

Ainsty Farm Shop wins Award

Congratulations to Lily and Stuart Beaton of Ainsty Farm Shop at Green Hammerton as they have just recently won the 2010 Countryside Alliance Award for Local Food in the Yorkshire region for the third time.
I happened to be there the day before and Lily was very excited about the judge's forthcoming visit. They visited their shop last month before making their decision.
The shop has it's own butchery, with traditionally matured meats, an in-house bakery, a deli and a coffee shop. And of course they stock a range of mrs madden makes aprons and pinnies too. They also sell fresh fruit and vegetables that are locally sourced.....well worth a visit...take along a big shopping bag with you as I'm sure you will be tempted!

Blacker Hall Farm Cafe

I have just come back from meeting a friend for coffee at the new Blacker Hall Farm Cafe. Well we met for coffee but as it's ages since we'd seen each other we ended up staying for lunch as well! Food again.... I know...but it was a healthy lunch!

But it is worth a visit if you live in the West Yorkshire area and you can shop for all your vegetables and locally reared meat too. Even the Fish Man from Grimsby is there on a Friday too! They also tell you where all the produce is grown. I bought some Wakefield parsnips for my hotpot for tonight!

Go on treat yourself to one of their fab cakes.....I did resist this time!!!
